Origins: Jedi Mind Fuck—usually shortened to JMF—is a well-known cubensis variety with a name that’s almost impossible to forget. Its exact genetic history remains somewhat mysterious, although some stories within the mushroom community connect it to Z-Strain or other classic cubensis genetics. Whatever its precise beginnings, JMF has been circulating long enough to develop a considerable following and a reputation that fits its larger-than-life name.

Characteristics: Jedi Mind Fuck has a fairly classic cubensis appearance, typically producing golden to caramel-brown caps on sturdy pale stems. Younger mushrooms tend to have rounded caps that broaden as they mature, while blue bruising may appear where the mushroom has been handled. Compared with some of the stranger albino and PE varieties, JMF looks surprisingly traditional considering the name attached to it.

Potency and Effects: Jedi Mind Fuck has built its reputation around an immersive, mind-bending psychedelic experience. Users commonly describe pronounced open- and closed-eye visual changes, euphoria, dramatically altered perception, and deep, free-flowing thoughts. More intense experiences are sometimes associated with profound feelings of interconnectedness, shifts in the sense of self, and the kind of expansive or mystical headspace that helped give JMF its memorable name. Despite the intimidating title, its reputation isn’t all chaos—feelings of love, wonder, reflection, and connection are also commonly associated with the experience.
