Strain/Variety: Orissa

Origins: Orissa is an old-school cubensis variety said to originate from wild mushrooms collected in the Indian state of Odisha, historically known as Orissa. The variety became especially well known among cultivators for producing unusually large mushrooms, helping it build a reputation as one of the giants of the classic cubensis world. Its wild Indian roots and impressive size have kept Orissa recognizable even as countless newer crosses and isolations have appeared.

Characteristics: Orissa is famous for going big. These mushrooms can develop thick, substantial stems topped by broad golden to caramel-brown caps, with especially mature fruits sometimes reaching impressive proportions. The caps begin rounded before expanding dramatically with age, giving larger specimens an almost dinner-plate appearance. Pale stems may also show blue bruising where handled. If you’re used to smaller, more compact cubensis varieties, Orissa can look enormous by comparison.

Potency and Effects: Orissa has a reputation for a happy, energetic psychedelic experience with plenty of euphoria and a wonderfully playful side. Users often describe laughter, a sense of childlike wonder, strong visual changes, a noticeable body buzz, and suddenly finding the people and world around them much more fascinating than usual.
