Species: Psilocybe cubensis
Strain/Variety: Cuban
Origins: Cuban holds a special place in mushroom history, with its roots tied closely to the story of Psilocybe cubensis itself. The species was first scientifically described from mushrooms collected in Cuba in the early 1900s, which is where the name cubensis comes from. Modern Cuban varieties are associated with those Cuban roots, giving this old-school mushroom a historical pedigree that few modern crosses can match. You could almost call it cubensis royalty.
Characteristics: Cuban mushrooms tend to have a more traditional, relatively slender appearance compared with the chunky PE varieties and unusual modern mutations. Caps typically range from golden caramel to warm brown, with a smooth surface that broadens as the mushroom matures. The stems are generally slender and pale white to light brown, with blue bruising sometimes appearing where the mushroom has been handled. They may not be the biggest mushrooms in the bunch, but their classic appearance suits their old-school reputation.
Potency and Effects: Don’t let Cuban’s relatively modest appearance fool you—it has a reputation for delivering a lively, well-rounded psychedelic experience. Users often describe prominent visual changes, euphoria, deep introspection, and a heightened sense of connection to their surroundings. The experience can move between colourful, energetic moments and a more thoughtful or philosophical headspace, giving Cuban a nice balance of visual activity and inward exploration. Its combination of history and classic psychedelic character has helped keep this variety popular long after newer and flashier cubensis strains arrived on the scene.
Use in a safe, supervised setting until you are familiar with how psilocybin affects you.

Drug Interactions: Psilocybin may interact with prescription medications and other substances. Some medications, including certain antidepressants such as SSRIs, may alter the effects of psilocybin, but individual responses can vary. Combining substances that affect serotonin may also carry a risk of serotonin toxicity (serotonin syndrome), particularly with certain medications or combinations. If you take prescription medication, speak with a qualified healthcare professional about possible interactions. Do not stop or change a prescribed medication in order to use psilocybin without medical guidance.
Storage: Store at room temperature in a dry environment away from direct sunlight.
